Floyd Alfred Almy, 80, died February 28, 2002, at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, New York. Floyd was born November 10, 1921 in Greenwitch, New York, the son of Guy Floyd and Florence Ann (Southard) Almy.
A lifelong area resident, Floyd was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Middle Eastern Theater from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded four Bronze Service Stars. Floyd was an automotive mechanic with Freihofer Baking Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 1489, Wynantskill and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors in addition to his wife Mary, include a daughter Linda Marie Brown, who sent me this information about his death.
Doris May Russo, 75, of Providence, Rhode Island, wife of the late Joseph A. Russo, Sr., died August 16, 2001. Doris was born in Providence on October 18, 1925, the daughter of Lester E. and Annabelle (MacAfee) Almy. She married Joseph Alberto Russo in Cranston, Rhode Island, on April 13, 1946. They had four children: Joseph, Jr., Douglas Everett, John Arthur, and Wayne Robert.
Clara Josephine Almy, 96, of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, formerly of Scituate, Rhode Island, died January 4, 2002. Clara was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on June 4, 1905, the daughter of Walter S. and Harriet J. (Glines) Almy.
Clara graduated from Wheaton College in 1928 and Katharine Gibbs School in 1929. She worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Tillinghast, Collins & Graham in Providence until she retired in 1976. She moved to New London, New Hampshire in 1977
Clifford Judson Almy, 84, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, (formerly of Thomas Township, Michigan), passed away on November 8, 2001. He was retired from Eaton Manufacturing Corporation after 40 years as a tool former.
Clifford was an inventor, avid card player, master craftsman and outdoorsman who also enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, ice fishing, cooking and camping with his children . Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Loretta; and four daughters, Nancy Hastedt, Susan Denney, Fay Platko, and Mary Martin.
