Donald Almy (1239-2145-2312) informed me of the arrival of a his new grandson, Thomas Almy Baty, born May 4, 2001. Parents are Nathan and Donna M. (Almy) Baty.
Lorraine (Almy) Almy (1407-1C74-41) wrote "I need to tell you of the death of my mother-in-law, Evelyn Melissa McGillivray Almy on March 5, 2001 in Bellingham, WA. She was 92 years old and had had Alzheimer's Disease for several years. She was proud to have been an Almy for over 64 years and proud, too, of her Scottish McGillivray ancestry. Her husband, Floyd is 93 years old, still living by himself in the family home and doing very well."
Richard Almy, Jr., 68, of South Dartmouth, MA, died at his home on April 3, 2001, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Richard was born in Boston on July 15, 1932, the son of Richard and Ruth (Lovering) Almy. He married Anne Jaques Taylor in Winnetka, IL, on December 28, 1968.
Richard was a graduate of the Middlesex School and Harvard University, and received a master's degree in business administration from Northeastern University. After graduating from Harvard, Richard was a member of the Army Counterintelligence Corps in Germany. He then pursued several business ventures in South America. From 1970-95, he continued his professional career in commercial real estate in Connecticut, where he was a Certified Commercial Investment Member. He retired to South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, in 1995.
Richard was an active sailor and member of the Riverside Yacht Club and New Bedford Yacht Club. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Richard T. of Old Greenwich, CT; two daughters, Gretchen H. of Middleboro and Heather L. of Norwalk, CT; and a sister, Caroline A. Gerry of Locust Valley, NY.
